Collagen & Elastin
AGING SKIN
Collagen is a protein that provides our skin, bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments with structure, support, and firmness while Elastin is the protein that gives our skin elasticity and the ability to recoil after muscle movements such as smiling, squinting, talking.
As we age our body produces less collagen especially after menopause, women experience a dramatic drop in collagen production.
Both Intrinsic and extrinsic factors play a key role in the rate our skin ages. Fortunately we do have treatment modalities designed to enhance collagen production such as Microneedling, PRP, Sculptra, and Laser therapy to name a few.
However this is not the case for Elastin’s fiber network. These slow growing fibers once damaged do not regenerate as easily if at all. Ask our Esthetician about Specific Treatment modalities aimed at protecting these vulnerable Elastin fibers instead of replacing them.
Be sure to call Texture 508-359-7777 ask for Susan or Gianna with any questions or concerns you may have after your treatment.
